The 2011 Pennsylvania Infrastructure Summit

7:30 am, April 27th, Harrisburg Hilton

(Harrisburg, PA) The Pennsylvania Infrastructure Group representing industry leaders from the communications, energy, water/wastewater and transportation industries announced its keynote speaker, Kathy Pape, President of Pennsylvania American Water Company, as well as two April 27th Summit speakers highlighting advanced technologies that have demonstrated strong capabilities to make the Marcellus industry in Pennsylvania safer, more compliant, profitable and less stressful on roads, bridges and other infrastructures.    Dr. Peter M. Duncan, founding President of MicroSeismic is one of the fast growing technology companies within the oil and gas industry.  MicroSeismic just received $100 million in venture capital funds to grow the company and its capabilities.  Jon Pollack, Senior Vice President of GeoDecisions, a division of Gannett Fleming is one of the fastest growing GIS companies in the world.

At a very crucial time in the development, regulatory rollout and heightened environmental sensitivity of the Marcellus gas industry in Pennsylvania, MicroSeismic technology offers drillers and regulators a more detailed view before, during and after the drilling processes, and GeoDecisions can validate where all traffic and materials arrive, transport and leave the State.   Kelly Lewis, President & CEO of TechQuest Pennsylvania stated, "With the Marcellus and Utica gas formations, Pennsylvania is facing the biggest opportunity of our lifetimes, but for sure, we only get one chance to do it right, and we have a responsibility to do it right."  Lewis added, "Integrated Technology offers the best strategy to improve safety, regulatory compliance and efficient gas production."    Lewis said in 2010 with leading-edge technology firms, TechQuest launched TechQuest Marcellus to bring together all of the technologies and innovations that will timely make Marcellus and Utica gas safe, sound, profitable and compliant, in all aspects and impacts.

For legislators, the April 27th infrastructure breakfast offers a quick snapshot into the fast-developing innovations that are improving regulatory compliance, safety and well-production.

For leaders from the administration, regulators and local governments, the infrastructure breakfast and summit offers the most current updates from industry and government leaders, as well as the chance to meet and share connections with Pennsylvania's infrastructure industry from all four corners of our great Commonwealth.

For infrastructure summit attendees, the infrastructure breakfast and summit offer a current view into the latest developments and opportunities in the infrastructure industry, ways to get connected to the infrastructure industry and Marcellus opportunity and  the best opportunity to network with hundreds of leaders in the infrastructure industry.

Keynote Speaker for the 2011 Pennsylvania Infrastructure Summit:

Kathy L. Pape

President, Pennsylvania American Water

Kathy L. Pape joined American Water in July 2007 as president of Pennsylvania American Water, the largest regulated water utility in the Commonwealth, providing quality water and wastewater services to approximately 2.2 million people in 390 communities. In this role, Pape drives operational and financial results, leads customer, regulatory and local government relationships, and is the principal external contact for American Water in Pennsylvania.

In April 2008, Governor Rendell appointed Pape to the Sustainable Water Infrastructure Task Force. Pape was among 30 task force members from across the Commonwealth whom the Governor selected to address the funding shortfall facing Pennsylvania’s aging and deteriorated water infrastructure.

Prior to rejoining American Water, Pape served as senior vice president, treasurer and rate counsel for Aqua America Inc., with responsibility for all financing activities, billing, rates and regulatory filings, budgeting and long-range planning. As vice president, treasurer and rate counsel, Pape led the company's effort to manage numerous, successful rate cases resulting from the company’s growth from a one-state system to 13 states with hundreds of systems. She also reduced the company's long-term debt costs, saving money for the company and customers.

Pape has more than 30 years’ experience in the utility industry and is a nationally recognized expert on the water and wastewater industries.

Kathy holds a B.A. from Edinboro University, a J.D. from Dickinson School of Law and a LL.M. in Taxation from Villanova University School of Law.
